There’s no question that it has been an extremely challenging year, in so many ways, for all of us. But in other ways, it has also been quite revelatory and inspiring. From frontline healthcare or essential workers, to parents trying to juggle childcare responsibilities while also working from home, to students learning remotely—and everything in between—we have all learned valuable lessons about who and what is truly important. We have found within ourselves a deep reservoir of resilience, patience, and adaptability. Even more, we have reevaluated and redefined what it means to be healthy, in every sense of the word. As we continue through the holiday season and enter the New Year, why not maintain this mindset moving forward? For example, maybe smaller holiday gatherings will allow you to focus more of your energy on spending quality time with loved ones instead of feeling the need to overindulge in festive cocktails. Perhaps you’ll be able to select just a few of your favorite holiday treats to savor and enjoy because you won’t be tempted to sample everything on the buffet table. With less time and energy expended on traveling, you might be able to incorporate more exercise or catch up on sleep. No matter the situation, there are pockets of positivity to be found that can absolutely help us on the journey to better health.
